Do:
-Begin Project 3 “Self Portrait”. This can mean whatever you can imagine. Start planning your project.  Decide whether you want to script or assemble your self-portrait. Begin writing, storyboarding and gathering assets: digital artifacts, music and sounds, b-roll, textures, schedule interviews, location shoots, asking your classmates for help.  Start thinking about how you want to plan your production. Come to class with three different project ideas.  Be prepared to pitch your ideas to your classmates.

Do:
– Continue working on Project 2 “Personal Diary”.  Create a storyboard – this can be hand drawn, prepare a shooting schedule, go out and shoot. Bring your footage and sound to class project studio next week.
-Assignment 3 – Re-edit a clip with a new look and new soundtrack. The goal is to entirely change the reading of the found footage. The clip can be your favorite commercial, music video, social media video or video from your data archives.

Assignment for Tuesday 2/17:
Read:
The Silent Film Returns – on Social Media – Amanda Hess, NY Times

Do:
-Finish Project 1: Add description of sound to your Storyboard. Fix current visual storyboard with adding missing shots.  Perhaps add camera movements as well. Add your name and title of story on each page of your storyboard. Upload final storyboard to the class blog with your #name and #storyboard before 1pm the day of class. Upload Storyboards and Cover shot to PhotoCentral.  Print the storyboard(s), and one still as your Cover shot.

-Begin shooting for Project 2.  Project 2 final is 1-3 min with sound due week 6.  The theme is “Personal Diary”.  This diary can be an activity or aspect of your life (for example, doing martial arts, or walking your dog where something interesting happens beyond just walking the dog, such as falling in love with another dog owner), a fantasy (winning the lottery), a dream (going to the moon) or  a fear (being hacked on social media – this can be funny or nightmarish).   Think about your story, stretch your imagination and get inspired.  Start developing a shooting schedule according to location of shots. Bring footage to class for editing on your external drive.

Do: Assignment 1 -Watch your favorite movie, tv show, music video or social media channel (again). Take notes of the position of the camera: describe the different light, colors, characters, anything you see in the individual frames. Pick two different image/shot sequences that strike you. Take photos or screen shots of the sequence of five to seven shots.
